Software for identifying wave-induced cracks in submerged — and sea-weed covered — structures has been developed. The software works on video recordings from inspections of the surfaces suspected of containing cracks. Support for live analysis can be added.
The software is based on quality control work done on video inspections of an oil production platform, where there was a need for identifying how many and how serious cracks there were in the structure.
The procedure implemented in the software has been confirmed to be able to identify cracks not found by professional inspection teams.
The ideal use of the software will be as a real-time support tool for professional inspection teams operating inspection ROVs.
